Knight-Captain Melina by SirTiefling Knight-Captain Melina by SirTiefling
Gift art for :icondendory:

This is my version of his character, Knight-Captain Melina. Usually Melina believes that the best possible armor is NOTHING -- but I managed to persuade her to wear a formal, uh, dress outfit in order to keep my gallery SFW.

Tools: Mouse, Paint Shop Pro 7.

(Edit: such a small thing, but it's fixed now.)

I think her best possible armor are her sexy and beautiful feet, designed to kick the faces of her opponents :-)

Well, she usually wears pretty much nothing... Less = better defense, or something.

Nice jacket, eh? You may need to zoom in to spot it. :)

Standart bearer! This is a great honor. And great danger too - you are quite a target...

Thanks.

Her jacket still amused me. Very formal, ceremonial and SMALL. :)

How long did it take to get as awesome as you are?

Started practicing the few months before I was born. "It tickled", said my mother.

No serious, how many years of experience do you have?

As an amateur artist, 30 years. Started when I was about 3. My first tool was a pencil. I don't know how long I've been painting with a mouse. Maybe six years. Or seven. My first work was a photomanipulation: Charlie Sheen -> Orc. :)

Checking my backups I seem to have done about 50 paintings in that time -- 22 of them THIS YEAR!

(No! I will never submit those remaining 16. They suck. :) )

Did you receive any artistic education?

There were some sketch-this-stuff-that-way classes in school. But I'm completely self-learned. Why learn something from a tutor if you can discover those techniques all by yourself?

I love the tones and attention to anatomy in your work. Great colors too.

Yes, I paid extra attention to anatomical realities when creating this picture. I promise to follow that virtue in the future. All I need is a little patience...

Wow that is amazing! She is so recognizable, and looks strong and still elegant, as I envision her. You have a great talent :)

...Should I still GeorgeLucas it? Her legs are slightly (read: about 3-4 pixels) too short. Their Chun Li-curves don't help. Hmm.

Not exactly. I have to work with what models are available. I have full pants that could work, knee caps which would be somewhat similar. I don't have a top that looks like that however, yours is very nice, I wish I did ;)

If you ever do commissions and aren't bored of strong girls I'd be interested in buying some from you.

This picture drained me like a legion of vampires! I'm more tired than a cemetary. But it's only 23:30 and I can't go to bed before sunrise. Hopefully this is a coherent reply.

I don't take commissions because that would make me a professional artist. Silly, maybe, but I view artmaking as a hobby, and hobbies need to be enjoyable. I need a target that inspires me, otherwise the whole project falls down and I die from stress overload. In Real Life I do my best to avoid contracts, and it's okay because I have enough money to survive. Commission = contract = stress = death.

But... Sometimes I do gift art! All I need are time, vigour and inspiration. Inspiration comes from any fascinating character idea, like Melina here. I'm always eager to hear suggestions, but I really don't want to make promises. (Besides I already gave you a gift today! :D )

Personally I would now like to paint a handsome vampire king who makes goth girls go "squeee"! I also have that graphic novel...

So, no commissions. Suggestions are welcome, but please don't make me work! :)

That's alright, I totally understand that. I'm sure when you make that vampire king, he will be awesome. As for suggestions, well maybe a couple of those goth girls could find themselves in that picture, around him? ;)
