Beautiful colours of the sky! I love how it alternates between contrasting colours
If I may offer one piece of advice, which is relevant to a lot of your drawings... While your shading and colouring and attention to detail is sublime, your people are often in slightly stiff, unnatural-looking poses. It's a hard one to get right (believe me, I know), but studying actual people (sitting in the mall and life drawing, e.g.) or experimenting with exagerrating poses are both good ways to start. Dunno if it's useful. I still love your work, anyway
I've have always done things my own way, and while I had this "photorealism phase" about 10 years ago (liked to work with a pencil (I wonder where all those drawings have disappeared)), if I find a rule in an artbook, I'm going to ignore it.
But if I'm to do my art more professionally & by-the-book one day in the future, I'll face a big difficulty - the tools. The mouse and the antiquated paint program demand a really big canvas, and if I paint things from the scratch, like I usually do, stiffness becomes almost unavoidable. Pencils, and I'd imagine tablets, are sooo much easier to use. But I like my mouse.
Oh, also - "by the book" isn't one constrained way of drawing. There are a ton of traditions and ways to go about it (though some things are pretty universel, fx croquis drawing), and every good artist that I know of creates their own mix.
Just to say, "by the book" isn't a bad thing. It's just standing on the shoulders of giants so you can develop your own version.
Of course this doesn't help if you're as lazy as me. Haha. Sorry if this comes off as preaching, it's just a fascinating subject
Wow! Way to go all out in fixing it (the poll, the catsuit drawing). Kudos to you
It's a very good idea to be critical of the rules you learn - there are a lot of BS rules out there. But a better approach than ignoring it, IMO, would be to figure out the reason behind the rule, and see if it resonates with you. Yeah, I know I'm nowhere good enough to give lectures , but it works for me.
And I must admit, I have no idea how you do such great work with just a mouse. I can hardly do flat colouring correctly with that, haha.
I read there is something you don't like about your drawing... Well, that is natural to have those feelings about your art, but I want you to know this looks amazing. I'm sure there are things you can find you would like to look better, but all around it is high quality art. I could say her face is a little plain looking, and her feet and legs look ever so slightly small, or her skirt is too short for not showing me panties. All of these things don't even matter because they still look good and are natural features normal people. I don't really want to give you any reason to "meh" your own art, so I'm going to say there isn't anything I have a gripe about. The clouds look cool, and if you can make good lightning and didn't go over the top. It looks nice with minimal use. Your glows and highlights look real nice and look proper. You don't get to see a lot of full body tattoos that are not big bold designs and it makes me want to look into her character and story. Rocks trails look good. ^^
The one think I wana make you do is put GRB somewhere on your artl. It's your art name but your going to always be GRB to me. ^.^
I would love to such "not as good" drawings everyday, dear!
Oh my Gods, she is fabulous, there is no other words! Perfect! The dress is sublim, I really love its design, the crown is really beautiful, you've done wonders with her tattoos and the hair is sublim The whole artwork is so balanced, full of power and chaos but with a great aesthetism and harmony! I really love everything about it
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this marvelous pic
